Lorelei - The Bitter Air 7" EP

Here's hoping the third time is the charm for posting this oft-requested EP! To celebrate this hat trick, I've re-ripped all 3 songs (these rips are better) and made them available for download in a handy-dandy archive. Beautiful debut indie pop single released on Slumberland Records in 1991.

Thanks very much for this. Gina, who sang on this single, later went on to sing for a band called Paint, who then renamed themselves Racecar. I've got a Paint demo tape around here somewhere, but sadly no tape deck to play it on.

Beautiful folded upon Beautiful. Cocteau Twins vocals, with Enya touches of layering. Thank you so very much for introducing me to this hidden gem of a group. I have bookmarked this page of course.

May start my own blog of older stuff now you have inspired me. 80's vinyl is about all I have now, but with this polderbits program, I can now rip a few rarities to share too.

Here's what Stephen (of the band) says about this EP in the discography:
"This 3 song single on Slumberland features a radically different 5-piece line up with Davis then playing mandolin, and Matt not yet in the band. Gina Yi was our vocalist and on guitar is Dave Cerf, now of Threnody Ensemble, who would briefly rejoin Lorelei in 1992, playing guitar along with Matt, who had replaced Dave when he left for College."

Does anyone have this song?
"Probe"- recorded in 1991 and released in 1993(?) on the Burning the Midnight firefly #2 cass. comp. This is an outake from The Bitter Air era featuring the 5 piece line up.

Thanks for the DL. I have the 7, but my turntable is on hiatus. This 7 was great. I hung out with Gina Yi a few times and she was the nicest person ever. Long live the Ultracindys.
